Yellow Brimstone

It is amazing how in just one week the numbers and types of our garden butterflies can change so dramatically.
Last week the most numerous butterflies in our garden had to be gatekeepers and whites, with a very good showing of peacocks. This weekend the number of gatekeepers had dropped significantly, with only a couple in the garden at any one time and there were also less whites, there were still numerous peacocks, including this stunning one which had much bluer eyes than any of the others in the garden,

but we also had a good number of small tortoiseshells which were totally absent last weekend,

a couple of painted ladies were also flying around

and this stunning brimstone also made an appearance today.

  1. Loving your photos. The Peacocks are starting to arrive here now. I even had one sitting on my shoulder for a while the other day.
